Warhammer 40K Scenery - Sector Mechanicus Part 3 - Ferratonic Furnace
Warhammer 40K - Sector Mechanicus
Part 3 Ferratonic Furnace
Welcome to Mars-Real Estate!
The furnace and gantry pieces are all from the original Kill Team starter box set - the one with the Reiver Marines and the Tau Breacher Squad. The conduit is from the Thermic Plasma Conduits set.

All these parts are easily assembled but you may find it beneficial to hold off gluing some parts together to enable different layouts.
HOBBY TIP: The design of the mechanicus sector lends itself to be easily interchangeable with almost all other scenery in the range. Pre-plan for this by trying a few combos and seeing where different parts line up.
Undercoating
Before I go into each element, I can get this part out of the way because everything was undercoated with Leadbelcher spray.
Ferratonic Furnace
Basecoat everything with a thin coat of Leadbelcher. You can use one of your larger brushes for this as there are no worries about hitting other parts at this stage, even the parts which will later be painted over with other colours.

Basecoat selected pipes and expansion chambers with Brass Scorpion.
Apply a wash of Agrax Earthshade to the entire piece.
Lightly drybrush all these areas with Necron Compound.
The plan here is to highlight the detailed parts and the edges - I tend to apply this mainly to the Leadbelcher areas as I prefer the brass areas to look more 'maintained' but you could apply it and have them look more weathered.
Basecoat selected panels with Mephiston Red - one normal coat should be enough.

I also basecoated a few panels with Fulgrim Pink, with an eye to having a few Troll Slayer Orange panels. Using pink as a basecoat worked well for the yellow of the servohaulers in Sector Machanicus - chapter 1 (Sector Mechanicus Part 1 - Galvic Servohaulers) so I tried it again...
Wash all the coloured areas with Agrax Earthshade to give it an oily/dirty look.
Basecoat electrical cables with Teclis Blue and highlight with Lothern Blue.
The gauges received a thin layer of White Scar for the background - tidy this up with Abaddon black around the inside and on the needle and needle-mechanism.
When dry, paint the needle Evil Sunz Scarlet and tidy up the edges of the housings with Leadbelcher.
Laddered Gantry and Thermic Plasma Conduits
Refer to the Sector Mechanicus - Chapter 2.
...and finally!
I added a couple of transfers from the Mechanicus transfer sheets and sprayed all the components with a matt varnish.
"Where did we park the Dunecrawler?!"
All praise the Omnissiah!
