Stayin' Alive - Chapter 1 - How Deep is Your Love?

Stayin' Alive - Chapter 1  How Deep is Your Love? a Priest of Sigmar dies defiantly but swiftly...    My "undying" love (sniggers)  for the Undead and in particular the Vampire Counts.   GOBLIN GAMING    We all have that army we were instantly drawn to as a kid, the one that was in our mind when we sold our souls to the Games Workshop gods. For me this was the 4th or 5th edition Undead army, which ultimately split into to The Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings in later editions. A band of adventurers sealed their fate when they awoke Lorenz VonKeller from his beauty sleep.    I’ve collected Vampire Counts on and off for majority of my hobby life. Falling out of love with them for a short period of time when my attention was drawn to those little bearded buggers that love cannons ( *cough, cough*  And BEER ! we love beer... Fat Dwarf)     The vampire lore always drew me back and I loved the history in the early books, the main char...

Gaming - ZoomHammer Trials - Playing in Lock-Down

Gaming - ZoomHammer Trials - Playing Warhammer in Lockdown Orders noted Sir. Advance on me men!    Recently, we've been trying out playing some Warhammer Fantasy Battles during the lock-down by using Zoom. We've imaginatively labelled this Zoomhammer and are playing 2000 point, winner stays on battle-line games. I've set up my games table and use my phone for a 'live' camera feed. (I use a couple of elastic bands to secure it to an adjustable lamp on my painting desk, but I may invest in a better / dedicated camera and stand in the future). Zoom also allows those not playing to join as spectators - hey, you never know, they might well have run out of boxed sets to watch! Gildoren's "+1 to hit - Painting Lamp of Hoeth" doubles as a floodlight and camera boom.    I'm playing High Elves (shocking!) , the Fat Dwarf is using the Dark Elves (well he bloody would wouldnt he?!) , the Tabletop Hobbit is giving the Warriors of Chaos a run out and our frien...

Warhammer Underworlds - Beastgrave The Wurmspat - The Brothers Grime and their Maw..

Warhammer Underworlds - Beastgrave The Wurmspat The Brothers Grime and their Maw.. Hello Hobbits! Sorry it’s been a while I appear to spend more time eating than I do painting... The Fat Dwarf, Gildoren and I are great Warhammer Fantasy enthusiasts and the models that Games Workshop are producing currently are incredible, I look forward to the Warhammer The Old World models coming back in the future. So until then The Fat Dwarf, Gildoren and I have decided to dip our hairy toes (Gildoren; a dainty finger) into Underworlds, in particular Beastgrave. The game itself wasn’t what had attracted us but more so the quality of the models contained within the boxes. So with my cake covered mitts I took the opportunity to paint some Nurgle models again,  I went for The Wurmspat!!! So before we start learning to play we are looking to get the models painted first. The models are similar to the Putrid Blightkings which were released during teh Warhammer fantasy End Times campa...

Horus Heresy 30K - Ahriman from The Burning of Prospero

Image
30K Ahriman Ahriman from the Burning of Prospero painted to a high table top standard using GW paints. 'Ari to his mates, Ahriman of the 30k Burning of Prospero Boxed set. If you want to find warhammer or citadel paints online super cheap , we have been using Goblin Gaming for a great service and price. Quick Link below. CLICK HERE I had really good fun painting this guy 🏆. It is a lovely model from a great boxed set 'Ari, flanked by two of his besties. Painting Process: First off the model has been sprayed with GW's citadel black spray. 2 thin coats of mephiston red using water to thin your paints where applied. This will give you a nice smooth coat of paint as Duncan the paint master states. I’ve then used Agrax "cheat" shade on the the recesses of the model to make it stand out. Once dry I tidy up any out of control Agrax with Mephiston red Again before applying an edge highlight of Evilsunz Scarlet on all the edges. ...

Warhammer Fantasy - New Orc, New OOORC!!!

Derz a noo Orc in Town! Gruk GutSplita meanest Orc War Boss of the Badlands! A small side project that I’ve been tackling in between keeping the wife happy and looking after the little snotlings (kids). I wanted a simple table top standard paint job that looked good as well captured the right Orc’y feel. I’ve always loved the background surrounding the badlands and the Orcs living there. I mostly use GW paints and try to not create colours or shades only using the colours provided in pots. The skin tone was done with a base coat of Waagh Flesh followed by a good covered of Beil tan Shade. Next step was to layer up a good solid coat of Warboss Green allowing the undertone to come through in the recesses. It’s as Duncan says: 2 thin coats using water to thin down your paints! Then to bring out the edges a nice highlight of Skarsnik green using the side of the brush running it along the edge of the model. I used dark and earthy colours to complete ...
