Games Workshop Craters

Just a quick update today Beardlings.

Continuing this years theme, I've been trying to rid myself of the massive pile of unpainted and started scenery projects I have in my flat. 

This week I completed the two 40k craters I received in a job lot a while ago. 

 First I sanded the rim to match next years realm of battle table project. Then I sprayed the thing in Rhinox hide, layered up my drybrush of Steel Legion Drab and Karak stone and picked out a few concrete and stone parts. I finished off with some attempts at scorching and soot marking from my forgeworld weathering powders. I then used Blood For the Bloodgod to suggest a recent occupant had vacated his foxhole on the large one and on the other attempted to suggest water ingress with the citadel water effect. Overall I'm not that impressed, but they are done and now in the box. Useful in necromunda too I suspect.

  Warhammer Fantasy Tomb Kings - Necrolith Colossus  I was always on the lookout for a model to represent the Necrolith Colossus in my Tomb Kings army. When the Hobbit spotted a 3D printed model on eBay and ran out of his hole shouting and squealing that it may be a good proxy, I thought I better take a look, if only to stop the neighbours complaining... There is a big temptation for getting my Tomb King army match fit for the release of The Old World. ( Assuming that the unit roster and base sizes will be similar to 8th edition ). When I saw the photo of it, I immediately recognised that it was, in fact, a great model to represent a Necrolith Colossus armed with a Bow of the Desert. Patting the little guy on the head, I couldn't really tell if the quality of print was good but decided to take a chance and ordered it. First up, I'm ahead of the curve, as I have a desert themed game-mat. These game-mats are really good. They are made of a similar material to a mouse mat. Therefore they are gentle on falling models and are a good surface for rolling dice on. The main benefit of these mats are they hold their shape after rolling up at the end of the battle, no creases or wrinkles despite numerous battles, and rolling up into their own bag, are easily stored.   Warhammer Fantasy - Dark Elves Chapter 8 Har Ganeth Darkshards Time to increase the core unit count of my Khainite force with some Darkshard s . This will not only increase the unit count but enable me to field an army at a higher points level. Their addition will also give me some variety in unit type, in regards a bit of range, as most of the army is melee based. HEY YOU ! Yeah you with the Beard..  Why not follow us on Instagram?   @Tabletop_hobby.blogspot I'm assuming Har Ganeth, as a major Druchii city, will be able to field a 'city guard' of some sort, (it certainly does in the Malus Darkblade novels - FD) . I felt  Darkshards  seemed the most appealing and appropriate to start with, this will install some missile capabilities in the army. Darkshards These are the standard core unit box set models that can also be assembled as Bleakswords  and Dreadspears .  I had enough parts to assemble a unit of 14 models including a command group and I also decided to have them
