Warhammer 40K - New Necrons - Novokh to Nihiilakh

Warhammer 40K - New Necrons

Novokh to Nihilakh

"Red! Red! Sooo much red!"

Painting Adeptus Mechanicus in my version of Mars Red colours (See Welcome to Mars Chapter   1  2  3  4  5  6   ) has finally taken its toll and I am curing my 'scarlet fever' by putting my Necron forces through a dynasty change from dark crimson Novokh to the turquoise and gold of Nihilakh. I'm hoping this "servicing" puts my toasters on a good war-footing before the rush into 9th edition with Indomitus and their inevitable reinforcements, which I will document in future Chapters.

I really don't want to spend a lot of time on new pimped paint jobs, so no resprays - only painting over the old red scheme with Ahriman Blue with a few Lothern Blue highlights then pick out a couple of areas of the Boltgun Metal for the bling upgrade to Retributor Armour Gold. If I can also plonk on a couple of transfers we are done apart from a light spray of matt varnish.

packaging material helps to protect the sensitive bits from the Matt Varnish

HOBBY TIP: Certain areas of some models do not react well to being sprayed with a matt varnish. Normally I would spray a Necron model before mounting it on a base and before inserting any green plastic gauss rods. However, as this is a re-painted model, it is a good idea to cover these areas. In the case of the Necron Destroyer, I cut a piece of light packing material and slotted it over the base and covered the rods with tube of the same material.

That Portly little Dwarf pointed out that they now match my Tomb Kings army! (As Seen Here which is kind of cool. I can also paint the new Necron models in this scheme when the Indomitus box set drops and the new models become available. In addition to the Indomitus models, Illuminor Szeras, the Silent King and the Void Dragon models look fantastic, and I am really looking forward to adding them to the painting queue.

Glad to be off the red paints for a while...I was getting a bit twitchy!

Nihilakh versus Mars looks like it will be a Rock 'em, sock 'em robot rumble!

Well 010010011, in our new away kit, we can tell ourselves apart from those Admech Scum...
