Tyrion and his twin brother Teclis are the two foremost Asur warriors to have come from the line of Aenarion, these two twins are are the Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger of the Asur, with Teclis a weak but powerful mind and Tyrion the foremost swordsman and warrior among the Elves of Ulthuan, and possible all of Elf kind, perhaps even in the whole Warhammer Fantasy world. (FD- if the elf Propaganda is to be believed "scoff")


Background



Tyrion is one of our favourite Elven "Special" Characters in the Warhammer Fantasy lore. His martial prowess is the Ying to his twin brothers Loremaster Yang. Should you set up your  army and face this elven prince, you will know he is a threat to any mini on the Warhammer battlefield. Tyrion cannot be ignored, resplendent in his golden armour, sat astride Malhandir the finest horse in the elven realms, waving the stoic Asur ranks forward with Aenarion's own blade "Sunfang" and slaying enemy champions in combat. 



  

The dynamic model mirrors the famous stance of Napoleon in the famous painting "Napoleon Crossing the Alps", the same stance was used on Archaon, Lord of the End Times.

We don't think this is a coincidence, this elven warriors pose is surely inspired by Napoleon's famous painting "Napoleon Crossing the Alps". This makes for an evocative model on the battlefield, suitable to lead the disciplined legions of the Asur.

Interestingly, this famous painting was procured as a set of 5 to be hung in different locations in France, Spain and Italy, four where competed and differ from each other slightly, a fifth was never completed by the artist and remained incomplete in his artists workshop until his death.

The Painting


This is an old paint scheme from the mid naughties, as you can see he is resplendent upon his goblin green base which was the basing method of choice or us at the time. As such we will just give a brief overview on the painting strategy employed.





I (The Fat Dwarf) recall being very excited by the release of this mini back in Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition. I negotiated with Gildoren to paint it for him, I was still very much on the learning curve from starting in the hobby and would eagerly paint up a dynamic character mini from any army (even the treacherous Asur!-FD).



Malhandir is an elven steed of noble origin, and as such is venerated with his own headdress 

You can see from the images that I was rigidly following the "layering" technique that was prevalent in the Games Workshop community at that time.

First up, I'm ahead of the curve, as I have a desert themed game-mat. These game-mats are really good. They are made of a similar material to a mouse mat. Therefore they are gentle on falling models and are a good surface for rolling dice on.
